Anne J. Gaiero As a ceramic artist, my passion is the utilitarian aspect of pottery. I have a profound respect for handmade objects that are appreciated both visually and tactile encouraging the user to interact. Using both wheel thrown and hand building techniques, I craft my pieces in a way that follows a long tradition of pottery making. I am inspired by early New England pottery with its history of conservative utilitarian ware created with simple yet graceful handiness. I utilize firing methods, glazing techniques and color choices to pay homage to the historic master methods that have been used for hundreds of years. My pottery making fulfills an ongoing need to create and interact in harmony with clay and hopefully the user. |
